We’re currently seeking a Naturopathic Doctor (ND) to join our Yorkville clinic. We're looking for someone who can join us, initially, on a regular part-time basis (2-3 days/wk) in-clinic given the nature of our patients and the care we provide. They will support and collaborate with Dr. Tim Cook, Vivagen’s founder and Medical Director in dealing with a rapidly growing and demanding group of patients. Dr. Cook is an award-winning Internal Medicine Specialist and pioneer in longevity and integrative health, known for tackling complex medical cases and advancing health optimization across Canada.
The Position
The Naturopathic Doctor (ND) is responsible for delivering high‑touch, concierge‑level naturopathic care with a strong emphasis on longevity, preventive medicine, and an exceptional patient experience. The ND serves as both a primary clinical provider and an ambassador of the clinic’s brand, modeling professional, ethical conduct and maintaining the highest standards of patient care and service.
This role involves:
Patient Care & Clinical Responsibilities:
- Conducting comprehensive patient assessments, obtaining detailed health histories, ordering and interpreting appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests, and developing individualized treatment plans that may include botanical medicine, nutritional counselling, lifestyle modification, supplementation, and other evidence‑informed naturopathic therapies.
- The ND is expected to perform routine clinical procedures such as taking vital signs, performing basic lab procedures (e.g., skin punctures and specimen collection), and ensuring that treatment rooms, equipment, and instruments are properly prepared, sterilized, and maintained. The ND must document all encounters accurately and promptly in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system, ensuring that patient charts are complete, compliant, and up to date at all times.
- Treatment plans are to be provided to every patient within 24 hours of their clinical engagement. Be it in person or virtual.
- That supports long‑term behavior change and patient empowerment.
- This includes explaining diagnoses and treatment options in clear, accessible language; educating patients on wellness promotion, disease prevention, and healthy lifestyle practices; and providing ongoing coaching, follow‑up, and reinforcement to support adherence to treatment plans.
- The ND is expected to maintain regular communication with patients through appropriate clinic channels, respond to clinical inquiries within agreed‑upon timelines, and contribute to patient‑facing materials such as treatment plans, handouts, protocols, and educational content that align with the clinic’s philosophy and standards.
- The ND is responsible for building and maintaining a sustainable patient caseload, meeting or exceedingly mutually agreed‑upon monthly, quarterly and annual revenue or visit targets as established by the Company. This includes engaging in appropriate patient follow‑up, encouraging continuity of care through treatment plans and re‑booking, and supporting clinic‑approved outreach activities such as contributing content to online marketing, workshops, seminars, webinars, social media participation, and community events that raise awareness of the clinic’s services.
- The ND is expected to maintain high patient retention and satisfaction, as measured by internal metrics such as re‑booking rates, treatment plan adherence, and patient feedback, which directly contribute to clinic revenue and overall business growth.
Clinic Operations and Administrative Support:
- Collaborating with reception and administrative staff to minimize wait times, and ensuring that each patient visit proceeds efficiently and smoothly from check‑in to check‑out.
- The ND assists with maintaining accurate and secure patient records, contributes to the development and refinement of clinical protocols, and participates in team meetings, case conferences, and multidisciplinary collaboration with other healthcare providers.
- The ND helps monitor and manage inventory of herbs, supplements, and natural health products, ensuring appropriate stock levels, product rotation, and compliance with all regulatory and clinic policies.
QUALIFICATIONS / COMPETENCIES
- Doctor of Naturopathy degree from an accredited institution; active, unrestricted licensure and good standing with the relevant provincial regulatory body; and professional liability insurance as required by law and clinic policy.
- Demonstrate strong organizational and multitasking skills, the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills suitable for a concierge‑style practice.
- Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems, comfort with technology, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to confidentiality and privacy standards are essential.
- Consistently exhibit ethical, professional conduct, maintain a calm and composed demeanor when dealing with a wide variety of patients and issues, and be able to sustain long periods of focused clinical work and computer‑based documentation while adapting to interruptions and changing priorities.
